Richard Herpin

Richard Herpin was born and raised in Cannes, France, near the heart of the perfume industry. Growing up surrounded by antiques in his father's shop and home, he instilled in him a deep appreciation for beautiful things and a strong aesthetic sense. The fragrances from his father's studio, especially those of precious woods, would later inspire his future creations.

Richard's interest in perfumery began during his encounters with master perfumer Pierre Bourdon , a member of his family circle. During their joint smelling sessions, Richard developed a deep passion for the art of perfumery, with Pierre becoming his mentor and guiding him in his approach to fragrance creation.

Richard Herpin's perfumery education was shaped by the invaluable lessons and guidance he received from Pierre Bourdon. He learned the importance of capturing the essence of a scent and eliminating unnecessary details. Richard's career in the perfume industry gained momentum as he collaborated with numerous renowned brands, including Amouage , Calvin Klein , Ralph Lauren , and Tom Ford , creating impressive fragrances for over 25 years.

He compares creating a perfume to sketching a scene in real life, where the perfumer first captures an emotional moment and then adds colors and details. Richard appreciates the idea that perfume is never the same for any two people and constantly evolves with each wear.
