John Pegg

John Pegg, the perfumer and founder of the independent fragrance brand Kerosene, was born and raised in St. Clair, Michigan. Growing up in a community dominated by the auto industry, Pegg was drawn to other interests, including painting and working on motorcycles. He loved the smells of dirt, grease, oil, and even the occasional scent of blood from a bruised knuckle.

Pegg's fascination with scents continued to grow, leading him to create his own line of fragrances under the name Kerosene. He debuted the line in 2011 with his scent R'oud Elements and has since created over twenty fragrances, each with its own unique character.

His physical surroundings and experiences inform Pegg’s approach to perfumery. Whether it’s the scent of a warm dessert or a walk in the woods, he draws inspiration from the world around him. While he has personal preferences when it comes to notes, he is open to using a wide range of ingredients in his creations.

Despite being a longtime contributor to the independent fragrance market, Pegg has maintained a low profile and generates curiosity with virtually no marketing or social media blitz. Nevertheless, his fragrances have developed a dedicated following and people continue to discover Kerosene and explore the brand’s back catalogue.

Overall, John Pegg's career as a perfumer has been marked by a passion for fragrances and a dedication to creating unique and evocative scents. Through Kerosene, he has carved out a niche in the perfume world and established himself as a skilled and innovative perfumer.
