Jacques Huclier
Jacques Huclier is a senior perfumer known for his bold and innovative creations. Born in France, his passion for fragrance began at a young age. Huclier pursued his interest by studying at the prestigious ISIPCA (Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l'Aromatique Alimentaire) in Versailles, France, where he discovered the fascinating world of fragrance and the power of the sense of smell.
After completing his studies, Huclier began his career in perfumery at Haarmann & Reimer (now part of Symrise), where he refined his skills under the guidance of renowned perfumers Olivier Cresp and Pierre Bourdon. He later joined Quest (now part of Givaudan) before returning to Givaudan in 2003, where he currently works as a senior perfumer.
Huclier made his mark in the fragrance industry in 1996 with the creation of Mugler A'Men EDT, a groundbreaking gourmand scent with notes of caramel, coffee and patchouli. The scent was an instant success and remains famous to this day. Huclier has also created a number of successful flankers for A'Men, all of which demonstrate his skill in creating innovative and unforgettable scents.
In addition to A*Men, Huclier has created a number of other notable fragrances throughout his career. These include Nina Ricci Ricci Ricci EDP, Gucci Guilty Pour Homme EDT, Davidoff Horizon EDT, Azzaro Chrome Pure EDT, Boucheron Quatre Absolue de Nuit Pour Homme, and Roberto Cavalli Imperial Hyacinth EDP.
Huclier approaches his work with a competitive spirit and a desire to create the most relevant and impactful scents possible. He believes that uniqueness is key and always strives to create scents that are both wearable and emotionally evocative. He usually begins his creative process with a strong accord and signature and works with short formulas to maintain control over the balance of ingredients.
Huclier is a respected figure in the fragrance industry and has inspired and mentored many aspiring perfumers throughout his career. He credits his mentors Olivier Cresp and Pierre Bourdon with helping to shape his approach to perfumery and teaching him the importance of perseverance and humility in the face of challenges.
