Francis Kurkdjian

Francis Kurkdjian is a world-renowned perfumer whose unique and enchanting fragrances have captured the hearts of people around the world. Born in 1969 in the ancient city of Grasse, France, Kurkdjian grew up surrounded by the fragrant fields of jasmine, rose and lavender that have made Grasse the perfume capital of the world.

Kurkdjian was a creative child with a passion for the arts and after studying at the prestigious Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l'Aromatique Alimentaire (ISIPCA), he began his career in perfumery at the age of 25.

In the years that followed, Kurkdjian honed his craft at some of the world’s most prestigious perfume houses, including Quest International, Dior , and Takasago. It was during his time at Takasago that Kurkdjian was given the opportunity to create his first solo fragrance, the now iconic Le Male for Jean Paul Gaultier . This groundbreaking scent, which combined traditional masculine and feminine notes, became an instant classic and cemented Kurkdjian’s status as a rising star in the industry.

Since then, Kurkdjian has created some of the most celebrated fragrances of our time, including Narciso Rodriguez for Her, Carven Le Parfum and the iconic Baccarat Rouge 540 for Maison Francis Kurkdjian, the perfume house he founded in 2009.

Kurkdjian's fragrances are known for their craftsmanship and innovation, and his work has earned him numerous awards throughout his career, including the prestigious French title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2008. He is also a prolific creator of perfumed products for several brands, including the luxury home fragrance line Aqua Universalis.

In addition to his work as a perfumer, Kurkdjian is also a talented musician and dancer. His love of the arts is reflected in the creative and expressive nature of his fragrances, which often draw inspiration from music, dance and other forms of artistic expression.
