Ann Gottlieb

Ann Gottlieb is a renowned fragrance developer with over 50 years of experience in the cosmetics industry. She began her career at Revlon and later joined the Estée Lauder Company, where she worked for six and a half years, learning the art, science and business of fragrance under the personal guidance of Estée Lauder. Gottlieb then went on to become head of product development for Elizabeth Arden and Warner Cosmetics, where she was involved in the creation of Gloria Vanderbilt.

In 1983, Gottlieb founded her consulting firm, Ann Gottlieb Associates, which focuses on providing specialized olfactory and product development services to the fragrance industry. She has developed best-selling fragrances in every sector of the fragrance market, including all fifteen Calvin Klein fragrances, Carolina Herrera's Chic and 212, and Liz Claiborne's Signature Brand. Gottlieb has also developed successful fragrances in the mass market, including variants for Unilever's deo-cologne giants Axe and Impulse, Victoria's Secret, and Bath and Body Works.

Gottlieb is known for her ability to translate scent concepts into motivational briefs for perfumers and her collaboration with clients and perfumers to create scents uniquely designed for their target audience. Her relationships of mutual respect with the world’s leading fragrance companies are integral to her success, and her marketing expertise places her at the forefront of trends in all segments of the fragrance industry.

Gottlieb has received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to the fragrance industry, including the 2002 CEW Achiever Award from Cosmetic Executive Women, the 2004 Living Legend Award from the American Society of Perfumers, and the 2006 Circle of Champions Award from The Fragrance Foundation. She is also widely cited in the media as an authority on fragrance.
