Alessandro Gualtieri

Alessandro Gualtieri

Alessandro Gualtieri is an Italian perfumer known for his avant-garde approach to scent creation. He learned perfumery through a combination of formal studies in Germany and outside lessons from an Italian expat he met in a bar. He built his reputation by working with major fashion brands such as Fendi, Versace, Helmut Lang and Diesel before launching his own perfume line, Nasomatto, in Amsterdam.

What sets Gualtieri apart from other perfumers is his refusal to publish ingredient lists for his fragrances. Instead, he chooses to describe the inspiration behind each scent, allowing the line to communicate the creative essence of each fragrance first and leaving the actual notes for the wearer to contemplate over time.

Some of Gualtieri's notable fragrances include Duro, which is his interpretation of masculinity and aims to enhance all manifestations of power. Another popular fragrance is Black Afgano , which is inspired by the smell of hash and is known for its smoky, earthy aroma.

In addition to his work with Nasomatto, Gualtieri also founded Orto Parisi, a line that explores the animalistic side of humanity. He also founded Maria Lux with his wife, Dutch designer Lilian Driessen.

Overall, Gualtieri's unique approach to perfumery has earned him a loyal following and established him as one of the most creative and daring noses in the industry.
